“Your services have made a world of difference to my math lessons…My students love the hands-on activities which I had only dabbled with before. You should see their faces. They have such a deeper understanding of the material. It makes me want to go back and re-teach all the lessons!”

Balanced Math Packages

Who should attend: Classroom Teachers

Duration: 2, 3, or 4 Day Training

As an alternative to the SB 472 five day training, Pivot Learning Partners now offers districts the option to choose a flexible delivery model of either two, three, or four days of training on their adopted textbook series for Math and English Language Arts. This curriculum-based professional development is drawn from Pivot’s approved SB 472 Institute Program and enables districts to determine the number of training days based on their needs.

Teachers begin their Balanced Math training on Day 1 with a Foundation Day (Mathematics Framework for California Public Schools, academic content standards, components of a balanced math program, and the Three-Phase Instructional Model) and then continue on through one or more of these additional topics as determined by the district: Instructional Strategies, Universal Access and Assessments, Instructional Planning, and Intervention. Pivot Learning Partners believes that through relevant rigorous modeling of equitable best practices for classroom instruction, teachers can help all students achieve to their highest level.

New Balanced English Language Arts

Pivot Learning Partners is expanding its professional development offerings to educators with Balanced ELA, a specialized Reading/Language Arts training program.  Balanced ELA is an introduction to the Houghton Mifflin Medallion Edition series, which expands on the current Houghton Mifflin adoption and content.  The training is designed to raise ELA achievement while addressing the varied learning needs of all K-6 students, from English Learners to special education.

Balanced ELA allows for a flexible delivery model of two to four days of training.  The building block structure of the training allows districts to choose from a variety of topics to meet their time schedules and particular needs.

All Balanced ELA packages are modeled after the highly acclaimed Pivot Balanced Math program for Harcourt California HSP Math and Houghton Mifflin California Math in which over 1,000 California teachers have been trained.
