Data Tools for Schools / The Walk'bout 3.0

data tools imageSpringWare™ is proud to announce the Walk'bout 3.0. For those who remember the ACSA classroom observation tool from years past, now it's available as a web enabled tool that can work remotely from a wireless device or synchronize to a traditional PDA device.

An informational presentation of the Walk'bout (.ppt)

The Walk'bout runs on a Palm Pilot, Pocket PC or any smartphone to allow principals to easily conduct frequent classroom walk-throughs as part of their routine. Incorporating the California Content Standards and references to The Cycle of Inquiry and California Best Practice Findings, SpringWare™ WT enables school leaders to focus on the standards and practices that make better teaching and learning a reality.

data tools imageThe Walk'bout is both a protocol for conducting short classroom visitations (2 to 3 minute) and an online database for aggregating the information gathered. The purpose of the protocol is to gain objective information regarding the implementation of school-wide goals related to effective instructional practices, depth of knowledge levels of student activities, and alignment of instruction to the California Content Standards.

New and Improved Reporting

data tools imageBuilt in Reports show both aggregated and disaggregate information on everything from one teachers' classroom observation to all third grade classrooms in the district on a particular day. The reports show types of teaching practices, time on task, and targeted strategies. This tool can facilitate the collection and data presentation of best practice strategies (i.e., Marzano, Bloom, etc.) and provide the basis from which a staff can use data to inform practice.

Now on a Web-Enabled Platform

data tools imageNo longer connected to Filemaker Pro the Walk'bout 3.0 is built on the SpringWare™ Datatools platform© making the tool and data retrievable with a simple internet connection or over a web-enabled smartphone (BlackBerry or iPhone)
