Purpose

The Balanced ELA and Balanced Math programs have been designed with a building block approach in mind.

Approach

Each content area program begins with a Foundation Day based on the California Frameworks and the academic content standards on which the adopted textbook series are based. Subsequent days of training can be added based on a district’s area of focus: Common Core State Standards, instructional strategies for student engagement, universal access, assessments, instructional planning, intervention, support for English language learners and more. Teachers particularly appreciate having multiple opportunities during the training to observe and plan grade- specific lessons with their colleagues.
