Jocelyn Garcia-Thome is Corporate Citizenship and Corporate Affairs Manager for IBM Corporation, based out of Silicon Valley, California. She is responsible for government affairs, community relations, volunteer engagement, philanthropy, and for the management of ongoing community programs in the Silicon Valley. IBM’s diverse and sustained programs support education, workforce development, arts and culture and communities in need through targeted grants of technology and project funds.
Before joining IBM in 2002 she worked for Hewlett-Packard in Human Resources for two and a half years. Jocelyn was a K-5 school principal in San Jose, California (the heart of Silicon Valley) for 10 years, following an assignment as Associate Principal in a 5-8 middle school. She began her career as a psychologist, working with children and families in the San Jose area.
In addition to her IBM duties, Jocelyn currently serves on several boards, including Industry Initiatives for Science and Math Education (IISME), Pivot Laerning Partners, and Pacific Autism Center for Education (PACE). Additionally, she is an Advisory Board member of the Silicon Valley Education Foundation and a member of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group Education Committee.
